Battle of Britain Air Show, IWM Duxford, 24th September 2017

With the autumn now with us, and summer having been unpredictable at best, I was determined to get some pictures without a grey background.

Having been ruled out of football with an injury, I decided to book a last minute trip to Imperial War Museum, Duxford…….. Again.

The Battle of Britain Air Show is their yearly commemoration of the battle over the summer and autumn of 1940.

Luck was with us, it was a lovely day and I was able to catch some quite pleasing shots. These included some old favourites and some planes I have wanted to see for a long while.

Duxford’s own Supermarine Spitfire Mk Ia. This aircraft was downed during the Dunkirk rescue and remained buried under the sea and sand until 1986. After a long restoration it finally flew again in 2014.

With this being Duxford’s last air show, this will most likely be my last aircraft based report.

I haven’t got much lined up for the rest of the year at current, but hopefully I will get out and get some autumn and winter stuff before we see the end of 2017.

As always, thanks for looking.
