Raptor Foundation, St Ives, 16th February 2014

With all the bad weather recently it’s hard to forget that its not far off being spring. I awoke this morning and walked the dog in what was bright sunshine and perfectly clear skies… a day not to be spent indoors that’s for sure.

To take advantage of this, we headed down to the local raptor foundation for a quick option day out. Being a raptor centre, of course there is the opportunity for photography, so I took my trusty Canon and snapped away.

There is not a lot to say about the raptor centre. It is a small operation outside of St Ives, and has been there for as long as I can remember. In  the middle of the open fields, it takes in all the unwanted or injured birds it can in order to give them a safe place to live regardless of how long they have left.

Some of these birds are used for displays to keep them fit, others are just allowed to stay to themselves and do their own thing, but hats off to the staff there that keep these birds fed and loved.

They are a great day out, the displays informative and it is a nice tranquil place away from the hustle and bustle of the towns, check out their website and I urge you to pop down one day with friends or family.

Here are some of the shots from the day out.

Thanks for looking.
